How to Remove / Uninstall Software Apps in Android

The Android Market is growing all the time with more software apps added every day. Part of the fun of owning a smartphone with a robust software ecosystem is trying out new apps whenever the mood strikes; but what happens when you try an application and want to get rid of it?

How do you delete an app in Android?

In this Android Help Center article, I'll show you how to get rid of software you no longer want on your smartphone.

The Uninstall Process

From your Android smartphone's Home Screen, press the Menu button, which is often a hardware button labeled with either the word Menu or with the menu icon (seen right). From the menu pop-up, select Settings > Applications > Manage Applications:

Here you'll see an alphabetical list of the apps you've installed on your Android phone.  Select the app you'd like to remove.  I'm removing the Act 1 Video Player Trial:

Once you've selected the app you want to uninstall, you'll see an information screen detailing the app's size, cache, etc:

One of the options is an Uninstall button (seen above).  Press the button and confirm the command.  The app will be removed from your smartphone.
